Wheel Alignment
There are many things you need to do to take good care of your car. While oil changes and filter replacements are pretty standard, wheel alignment service is also something you can't forget about.
Signs Your Car Needs an Alignment
The most obvious indication that the wheels of your Dodge Durango are unaligned is pulling. If you are on a perfectly straight road, you should be able to remove your hands from the wheel and your car will continue going straight. If it pulls to one side or another, something isn't right, and it probably has to do with the alignment.
The Benefits of a Well-Aligned Vehicle
Your Car Will Perform Better
A well-aligned car will prevent that pulling, which will give you a smoother and more comfortable ride. This will also help improve safety.
You Will Save Money
An uneven alignment causes the tires on your Jeep® Grand Cherokee to wear down sooner, which will result in having to replace them sooner. Poor alignment also puts more strain on the steering and suspension systems, which can cause their parts to wear out faster.
You'll Improve Your Gas Mileage
When your wheels aren't aligned, this will cause your engine to have to work harder. As a result, this will reduce your car's fuel efficiency.
How Alignment Service Works
While alignment concerns the tires, the main focus is on their angles. When you bring your RAM 1500 in for service, three areas will be looked at:
- Camber - The camber is the angle of the tire when viewed from the front. Too much of an inward or outward tilt indicates poor alignment.
- Caster - The caster is the angle of the steering axis when looked at from the side.
- Toe - The toe is the angle of the tire when seen from above. Like with the camber, techs will be looking for an inward or outward tilt.
